i went thru hell trying to fix my dad's laptop. all along i didn't trust him that he hadn't spilled liquid on it or done something wacko with it. faulty power cord. argh!
fun fact: dead CMOS = dead mac. faulty power cord = power cord lights green as if working
funner fact: i've hardcore thrown a macbook pro across the room... works FINE! bent the case a little, but no HD or screen issues. it shut itself down on impact.
