Always a problem this time of year.

Yeah, those centipedes are super common in anything with a basement in most of the states I've lived in. Virginia especially. I've learned to ignore them (mostly ).

Huh, I grew up in VA and never saw one of those. Of course, we didn't have a basement either. I do remember these things though, our garage would get infested with them, where they'd drop down on you if you were in there too long. I hated going in that garage certain times of year. Not really dangerous, but creepy as hell.

That spider is no joke! I don't care much for spiders either, but atleast I feel like I could outrun them.

Hehe, don't sleep too lightly, that indeed is a huntsman spider. And they don't catch prey with webs, they RUN THEM DOWN. AND are fast as shit as well =)

Yeah, that jumping insect is a katydid, and they used to get in my bedroom when I was a kid. Once when I was sleeping, a katydid crawled under the covers and started jumping frantically by my legs. Pretty weird way to wake up.

Lots of hobo spiders in here during the summer. I kill one every few nights it seems in the computer room downstairs.

Fuckers don't get as big as some other spiders, but their poison is NASTY.

Dead serious, these things have two speeds; completely still - or - 63.7 miles per fucking hour.

Yep, and with that instantaneous acceleration it could afford to give him almost a 6,16 second headstart. =)

Group of students renting a house in Arizona...

...one day, in walks a huge spider on the kitchen floor...

...they had seen large spiders before, but this one looked weird...

...it was all bumpy and stuff, on its body and legs, they were thinking it must be diseased or something...

...one of them decides to brush the spider out the door using a broom...

...as the broom touches the spider, all the thousands of bumps on the spider's body jump off, and run into the cupboards...

...smooth move!

I had something similar happen to me on a disc golf course, actually. A spider climbed out on my disc that I was throwing behind. As I reached down to brush it off, a bunch of little spider-babies that were riding on this things back jumped off and started to scatter

Very weird, I found those little things in my bag for like 2 days after that.

Terrified of a millipede? I think it's time to man up!

While I don't enjoy seeing them inside my dwelling, they don't even approach the threat of something like a scorpion, black widow or a wolf spider would pose.

Watching the Celtics in the Finals, minding my own business when I look up and see one of these bad boys:



on my wall, hanging out like he owns the place.
I get up to do something about it and he takes off down the hall towards the bedrooms. FAST.
I hate big spiders and I really hate big FAST spiders.

I can't find it.

I sit back down and at halftime I go look again. It's in my bedroom on my closet door not 3 feet away from the bassinet my 7 month old daughter is asleep in. The bassinet is covered by a mosquito net, but still....

I go into the kitchen and I come back with a can of Raid in one hand and a rubber beach sandal in the other. Decisions, decisions. Squash, or spray?
Remembering how fast it was I opt for the spray. As soon as I start it zooms into the closet where lies a mountain of my wife's shoes. I figure I got it pretty good and it's probably dead or close to it. Just to be sure I move the bassinet into the other bedroom.

After the game I walk into the bedroom and as I open the door I see movement and something jumps on me. I scream like little girl and brush the spider off of my tee-shirt (it was around my bellybutton).
I didn't brush it that hard but it just kind of curled up and died.
And that, ladies and gentleman is the creepiest part of all:
it used it's last dying breath to climb up out of the closet and lay in wait and attack me.

I looked on my shirt and there was a little stain and small holes wear it clearly tried to bite me before it died. I didn't sleep well for a while after that.
