2011 Pro Worlds - Santa Cruz, CA

Postby Desafinado » Fri Jun 04, 2010 10:59 am

Just announced - PDGA awards the bid for next year's Pro Worlds to Santa Cruz, CA! The last time the Worlds were held in California was 1982, so this is a huge deal.

Courses don't seem to be set yet, but the early talk indicates they'd use the following:

DeLaveaga DGC - http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=35

Pinto Lake DGC - http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3107

CSUMB Oaks Course - http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=513

CSUMB Cypress Course - http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=512

Ryan Ranch - http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2803

I'm sure these courses will see improvements and modifications made, which is another exciting thing as a NorCal disc golfer.

Quote from Dave Thomas (Masters Cup TD this year):

"Courses (at minimum) will include Delaveaga, Ryan Ranch, Pinto Lake and CSUMB. PRO only. My understanding is there will be one round of 27 holes per day with finals to be held at Pinto Lake (since it has the best facilities to accommodate a larger crowd). Lots of course design decisions and work on baskets and teepads to get done."

I'm totally going to donate and play this event if it gets to open registration without filling. Those courses at that time of year, with Pinto and CSUMB set up as 27-holers... beautiful.

I have always wanted to go to Cali...I should sell this as a vacation for myself and go to Pro Worlds, lol!

Stoked for this. Big time. Unfortunately, we'll have to check in with the CSU Monterey Bay for a defined date of demolition of the abandoned barracks around the cypress front 9. Not to mention maybe with this on next years agenda, we can put in REAL teepads at the Oaks course...
