My Brit friends have made clear: Greene's misplay was Greene's poor performance alone. The team cannot said to have played poorly when one of its players played poorly. But in fact, they all played poorly, especially with respect to the level of braggadocio they were handing down (and still spout).

Did anyone see Brazil v North Korea? That was pretty bizarre. Apparently, they told everyone that Kim Jong Il communicates directly with the PRK coach via a high-tech communication device that nobody can see. Anyways, one of the PRK players scored on a brilliant play near the final minutes...you could see that he was happy since maybe his family might not be slaughtered. That was pretty cool. Meanwhile, Brazil looked like they need to practice some more before they face more serious challengers.

Out of all teams I've seen thus far, Germany looks like the one to beat. They played fantastically well as a unit.

I saw the Brazil vs. PRK. and yes me and my wife were making jokes about the players being allowed to live after this match. Brazil definitely looked like they were lunchin'. but they are the top ranked team according to FIFA and PRK is the lowest rated team in the WC right now (105th). maybe they were lunchin' on purpose. I mean how bad can you beat up on a team with "secret communications".

I'm still wondering how in hell they qualified? I guess through a weak conference (along the lines of concacaf)?

Though maybe they just happened to assemble a team of talented players (by their standards, anyways) and decided to give them more rice and kimchi, to support their athletic development. A couple of their players looked pretty good by anyone's standards...too bad they'll never play on a real team where they can hone their skills further.

So I go and play a round this morning thinking that today's games will have Spain and Chile winning...but Spain loses to the Swiss? Did they just play bad or did Switzerland step it up?

it was a combination of both. Spain was doing everything right. their guys were in position and they had 63% possession but they just didn't have that killer instinct. The Swiss were for once being aggressive.

all Chile has to do now is not lose and it's adiós España.
