Freak incident at a tournament i TD'd today...

So during the first round of the ABC Charity Open at Little Lehigh Parkway...Allentown PA....a guy threw a drive on hole 18.....skipped off the stone path and landed his disc INSIDE a baby stroller carrying a 2 month old......

Good News: Baby was untouched and the parent was apologetic/understanding.
Bad News: Player took a circle 4 because of landing OB.

I referred to the Rulebook 803.07. Though the player disputed initially...he was understanding once i whipped out the rule book and a call to the PDGA office for quick support. Another official on site was unable for a ruling at the moment. And being hole 18 is near tourney central....he was looking for an instant answer..

FWIW....it was the first time this ever came up...and found it interesting that if the stroller was being pushed in bounds....the player would have gotten to play from where it landed in the stroller...in bounds.

Good call. The dude deserves at least a good tongue lashing for even throwing when there was the slightest chance of going anywhere near a pedestrian, let alone a stroller.

If the stroller and the parent were visible I think it depends on whether they were spectators or not. And if the spectator is personally known by the thrower to be a player knowing better than to leave a stroller to be hit or not and watching the thrower. If the stroller and the parent weren't visible it's a clear accident and if there were spectators or spotters they should have stopped the throwers until the way is clear.
