So from the sounds of it the biggest bagger wins?

Yeah I was talking to one of our locals who played in this years, and said they decided instead of making it a every other year event as planned they were doing handicap qualifiers every other year.
I don't think that they should label it the USDGC for this event. It devalues one of the biggest titles a discgolfer can hold. I understand why they are doing it, but it shouldn't carry the same name. I am very interested to see how it plays out. Hey maybe I can qualify. . . (Just a silly reason to renew and play as an advanced am)

And in theory handicapping keeps baggers from winning. Its just opening the USDGC to other divisions, competing with each other it seems?

In theory handicapping levels the playing field but rarely works out in real life. If someone is determined they can play tourneies until the USDGC and lower their rating which will help them with this handicap at usdgc. Or if someone say only has one tourney to make up their rating and it is low (sub 900) but are capable of shooting rounds much higher around lets say 985 that also will cause some concern. I like the idea and will surely try to make this tournament but am skeptical of a tourney that has any type of handicap involved.

Sounds like the plan will be for a player's best rating during 2011 to be used to determine their handicap at the USDGC so no bagging potential. Since a player will have to have a rating to earn a slot at a 4-round qualifier, all players at the USDGC will at least have a rating based on 6 rounds. I suspect they will require that players entering the Monday qualifier for the final 5 slots at least have a rating based on 8 rounds.
