After talking with Fritz and ZJ I recently started to use a QJLS and QPLS combo. I wish I would have given these discs a chance sooner. I am using the JLS in various weights to cover all kinds of shots and the QPLS has been great for Tbird type shots and It can handle a decent headwind. I still am getting use to these two discs but it looks very promising.

yeah, it is an amazing combo. made easier by the recent flooding of QPLS on the market.

What's the fade like on a JLS?

The fade is very late, but predictable. Very similar to a Buzzz...At shots on the upper end of the JLS power scale there will be hardly any fade at all, but at the lower end it fades more than dx drivers of the same speed.

The current stock runs of qjls will have more fade as well, but are still fairly straight finishers

After almost a year with the FD in the bag I decided to take my old QJ out for comparison. Long story short...QJs back in the bag. It just holds flat in the air a lot more dependably than the FD and goes just about as far. FD is a good disc, but I think the QJ is a great one.

What kind of distance potential does the QJLS have? (neutral wind, flat ground)

Follow up question: what is your "ideal" QJLS shot? What do you pull it out for most often?

I use my QJ almost as an extention of my mid game. I pull it out for fairway drives--staight shots or gently hyzers/annies. I also use it for shorter shots both BH and FH when I need to hit a low line. I'm using a flat one that is probably about 8 yrs old, but the new ones aren't much different. I like that I can carry just one disc as a stop gap between my mids and PDs...This is where the QJ has won out for me over other discs in it's general class.

I think the FD and QJ fill the similar gaps as workhorse fairways. They just go about it in different ways
The QJ isn't as touchy. It responds to torque and power better than the FD.
I find the FD easier to range and "work". that's why I used QPLS and FD. The QPLS and QJLS compete for the a lot of the same shots. The FD is the closest thing I have found in a modern stock disc that resembles the great old CE QJs
