I might have been stretching things a bit to claim there is an "elite" shadow group out there controlling things. It could just as well be that our bureaucrats are either very stupid, or horribly corrupt.

I'm listening to the Swanson guy right now. I've heard a lot of the same from other authors. It's obvious that our imperialist actions will eventually bring us down. Same with the fiscal and monetary policy we are pursuing.
