well I bought the reissue Renny Gold and BRP. I liked them both but I have some issues.
Renny Gold
good:
it's Renny Gold. I've played it twice and it IS that tough of a course (I know exactly how Doss felt).
I was able to turn the commentary to the original which was a bit more pleasurable. the course designer also had really interesting things to say.
bad:
the color was weird in the scenes they were able to "remaster". everything seemed too red and washed out. I guess it was a product of the digitization or whatever. maybe JR can explain
overall: a good watch for me since I've played the course.
BRP
Good:
where to begin. the course is awesome. Timmy Gill is a great commentator and a very polite man. the play was great; the "old guys" can still shoot the lights out. the picture quality was good but with a huge caveat (read below).
Bad:
I think it was filmed in 16x9 but not in an HD resolution. I had to use the "zoom" setting on my HDTV to get the picture to fill the frame. otherwise it was a 1/2 size box in the middle of the screen. I know they are putting a lot of hard work into making these but that just made it feel bush league. I didn't lose much of the picture in zoom mode but it was still irksome.
overall: I think it is the best of the series with RG a close second. so far...
