Small hole in disc

I bought a magnet at PIAS today and realized later that it had a very small hole from a thorn in the top, I used a lighter to carefully heat up the disc and cover the hole and then I smoothed it out. My question is, since the disc's flight characteristics were not altered in any way is the disc now illegal for pdga play?

It's perforated so it's illegal for PDGA play.

He sealed it so therefore it is no longer perforated. Since there is no hole it should be legal.

Also, manufactures make illegal discs and sell them knowing they are illegal so send your little I don't like to break the rules message to them.

And the manufacturers state that those discs are illegal for PDGA play. It all boils down to the integrity of players when it comes to almost undetected rules violations.

I would like to see a link where any of the manufacturers say that the disc that they marked 175 that is actually 178 is illegal and that it comes down to the player to weigh it and see if the disc they purchased is actually legal or not.

Are X outs illegal for pdga events?

Possibly, but not because it is an x-out. If it is over weight or something that makes a disc illegal then yes but just because the disc is an x-out doesn't matter.

The rules specifically say it's ok to do things like sand big gouges out of your disc, I would think this falls in the same category.

Your disc is legal for PDGA tournaments. In an older version of the PDGA Rules, repairing a perforated flight plate by the use of heat was declared illegal. That section was purposely edited out and is no longer in the current rules.

I was on the PDGA Board of Directors when this issue was being discussed for a rules update. One manufacturer objected to the prohibition against heat based repairs arguing that heat was the best repair method for the plastics they used and should be allowed. The Board agreed.

Welp, I had no idea that was completely taken out, and now I know. As for illegal weights; buy a scale or don't by Innova discs listed at 175 :lol:

Yes! Now my well worn Wiz (that I've lighter-repaired a couple times) is legal for PDGA play. I think this was a good change.
