So i treated myself to a new PC. I decided to give building my own rig a go again.

when SSD drop in price...i will go that route....and i went with a slightly older mobo. Dunno if it supports DDR3 to be honest

Not to speak for Solty here but SSD makers appear to still be having at least some issues with stability. Maybe that's changed recently but the last time I looked into acquiring one I read numerous horror stories of the EPROM corrupting after a few months. I believe it was something to do with how data was indexed and old data was not being wiped therefore causing corruption. Prices are becoming much more noticeable but it's a risk vs reward issue in my mind. The speed difference is really only noticed on large programs such as windows, games, etc... That was one of the primary reasons I was looking into it actually, I've heard load times in World of Warcraft dropping from 10-15 seconds down to 1-2.

Nice build Solty, if I ever get down to building my new set up i'll post it as well.

It has. We use them at my work and have them on about 20 machines to date with zero issues. When they first came out, you're right, they were not great, but many strides have been made. My ideal HDD set up would be a smaller SSD for my OS and a pair of large RAID 1 platters for my main storage. You should check them out again Jeronimo because they have gotten better in the reliability dept.

No doubt, I will. The next rig I buy will have at least one dedicated for either windows and/or any PC game i'm currently shredding.

I haven't built a comp in a while. Debating on building a new one by the end of the year. Usually I forget the stats and info on what's out because I buy, built, play and then forget all that shit. I usually tell 2 buddies that I'm looking and they fill me in with GOBS of geek talk as to what's the greatest option for the price and all that jazz.
Might have to hit that up soon.
