Traveling to Missouri in October

Which of these is a MUST to play and which ones should I not bother with? I'll be down there for three weeks, hunting, visiting family, DG, theme parks, etc.

I would make the 160 miles drive and spend a day or two playing the Kansas City Courses. But I'm biased being only 30-40 minutes away from them.

I think I'd have to rent a hotel unless i got up way early and drove 3+ hours....that'd make for a long ass day.

KC Courses are worth in IMO, but I live here.

Waterworks is one of the most famous par 3 courses in the world.
Both WyCo and Cliff Drive are great tests of golf. They play around a 1000 rated round for a 56.
Blue Valley (for a while) was the longest 18 hole course in the world (11.5k feet).
Swope is as old as me, and older than both the KCFDC and PDGA (born in 1981).
Rosedale has 2 courses on it's property.
Smithville by October may have 3 courses in the state park by then.

Then there's Prairie Center, Young Park, and Shawnee Mission, plus tons of shorter courses not governed by the KCFDC. So we've got plenty of golf.

My dad and I designed sunset about 7 years ago when he lived there. Nice little 9 holer.

McBride and Tom Watkins aren't bad, Nixa is also nice, but I know its changed since I was there.

Lake Bella Vista is a great course.

While you're there, try to meet up with Russ Burns. He's Disc Hold Monkey and a great guy. Him and I go way back. I have all his contact info if you want it.

I'm a fan of Bella Vista as well. It's got a lot of great holes.

I'll be in KC this Thursday early morning and won't be leaving till Friday afternoon. If anyone is interested, let me know (I'll send a PM with my cell#) It'd be nice to hook up with a local and play. I'm planning on being there around 9am, leaving here at dark to make my 3+ hour drive. I'm also interested in eating some famous KC BBQ, so if you have suggestions for places I CAN'T miss out on, let me know that too. Blue Valley and Water Works are on my hit list at a minimum. Trying to play till my arm falls off .

I've played McCauley Park, Grubaugh Park, and Horseshoe Canyon Ranch since I've been here. Wanted to get to Joplin and play McClelland since it is close, but I'm coming down to the wire and leaving on the 13th. So, it is either KC or Joplin...I'm going to KC on the 10th and 11th. I haven't been able to play as much golf as I wanted since I've been here for 2 weeks already. I'm visiting family that I haven't seen in 15 years and hunting deer with my bow, so that has taken precedence. I'm deer hunting today and tomorrow and then seeing family Wednesday.

I was going to KC today, but I see it is raining till tues/wed and see sunshine on thur/fri, so I'll be up in your neck of the woods in a few days.

That course was fun, but pretty easy. I shot 11 down on it both times back to back. It is only a 40 minute drive from where I'm at. I guess I should've posted much sooner to let you folks know, it would've been nice to hook up with some locals and DGR folk.

There should be Glow doubles at Waterworks on Thursday and Glow something at WyCo on Friday. WW is for sure, WyCo is still up in the air.

Did you play the standard BV course or the new shorter overlay course?

I played the long one, didn't know there was a short one, but did see other unmarked tees. I just followed the course map that is on DGCR. I talked to a local named Tom, who works for IBM, he said the course was pretty close to the same config as the '09 worlds. I shot a 59 on it and didn't seem that it was too hard to shoot that. I had a couple of errors and got a 5 on behemoth 18, I could've gotten a 4 on it. Maybe part of the course wasn't the same as my score was comparable to the pros that year. I don't know though, I'm a 950 player with limited experience. My tee game was seriously on point and I had a lot of 3s, I got a 2 on 2, a 4 on 7 (I think), got a wicked roll away on my upshot after parking it. The wind was pretty mild for the most part, 10 mph per the weather app on my phone. On top of that, I was the ONLY one there playing.
