multi-colors?

so ive dyed maybe 10 discs. however i want to do a multi colored disc. could anyone give me any info on how to dye multi colors?

I can't give much details since I don't dye discs, but its basically dying the same disc several times (once for each color). That's the entire process, as each color will require its own vinyl.

Speaking of multiple colors, I saw a disc today that flames dyed on it that were actually blended (very well) from red to orange. Apparently the guy did that part by heating up both the dye and the disc and painting them on. It came out looking amazing.

Always do black first, it can be dyed over with any color and will still rema
in black and you wont need to remask for the next color.

Its a mix of needing to remask or not. Some colors can be dyed on top of each other without any effect, such as yellow over red. But, always start with the darkest color if not remasking. Other colors require two vinyls, like blue & yellow, to keep them from mixing. When in doubt, use multiple vinyls.

Vaseline is the bees knees for multicolor. the process goes like this:

do your black outline
weed color 1
dip color 1
distribute thin layer of petroleum jelly over color 1
weed color 2
dip color 2

remasking is a bitch if youre like me and no good at hand cutting on discs.

so vaseline doesn't melt off in heated dye?

i have not run into that problem. its worked amazingly well. i find myself using a thinner and thinner layer every time i use that technique and its always held. my dye is typically around 125* at time of dipping.

I'll have to give it a shot on my next multi, I think my dye is a bit hotter, starts @ or slightly above 140 and by the time I finish it's dropped 10 degrees or so.
