I would like to politely discuss discspeed's disc mod

seems legal to me, as you were not explicitly trying to beat your discs in to change their flight characteristics.

dicking around throwing skip shots at a practice basket ≠ grinding the bead down on the pavement or throwing them against the wall to get them to act "seasoned."

Agreed, but, say I only threw one disc to keep the rest from getting really beat, and it just so happened to be one I wouldn't mind being more seasoned?

This distinctly reminds me of VR, and I believe that dead horse was beat, ad nauseum then. If I remember correctly, it boiled down to this: You can't prove how the disc got to the current stage of wear that it's in. Some people will try to play by the rules to the nth degree, the rest of us are cheaters.

imma add my 2 cents....regarding intentional grinding.

in the last two batches of innova orders i received...all have a lower flashing that scrapes the shit outta my index finger when new. If innova could perfect their molding process, i wouldnt have to intentionally grind the shit outta it....

i know its not a direct notation vs. breaking it in...but it could be perceived as one.

i mean who cares if ones competition is altering their discs? makes me wonder why that stupid rule came into existence. does anyone really gain an edge from modded discs?

dude got DQ'ed from USDGC a few years ago for melting metal weights into the inside of his aviar to make it way heavier. Wanted it heavier so it would fight the wind better.

It depends how its modded IMO. Sandpaper is one thing. Adding weights or something is another. I'm sure it's just a blanket rule in the PDGA's point of view.

What about factored discs? Those are okay because the manufacturer did the mod? But if I sand a stingray down exactly the same it's illegal, right?

Wasn't using heat allowed this year for the first time if it's for melting a burr back to the rest of the disc? As long as you practice or play skip shots that would be legal wearing of the bead after the flash had been removed with any method you wanted.

Apoth why do you insist on respecting and observing the rules of disc golf only and not the rules of this board or some laws of your country? Does that mean that you disrespect every DGR member and US citizen?

im generally a pretty law-abiding individual. i dont follow rules or laws that conflict with my moral compass.

this isnt finland...most of us in the US favor free thinking over blind obedience.
