Getting hit by your own disc

We were putting uphill. Dude putts on a hyzer, misses and his disc rolls downhill at him. He kicks out to stop his disc from rolling further downhill.

Dude tells me as long as his foot planted behind his lie doesn't move he can do anything he wants behind his lie.

I tell him his feet aren't planted in the course and shouldn't be interfering with his disc.


He was pretty adamant that I'm retarded and need to read a rulebook so I let him get away with it but would like to know which rule to call if this happens again. Does 803.07C fit here? It seems like most of the Interference rule is if other players altering a discs movement... not when it's the person who threw it.

807.07 C: Any player who consciously alters the course of a thrown disc, or consciously moves or obscures another player’s thrown disc at rest or a marker disc, other than by the action of a competitively thrown disc or in the process of identification, shall receive two penalty throws, without a warning, if observed by any two players or an official.

"any player" includes the thrower.

That's deliberate interference and the player gets a 2-throw penalty. However, if a player is hit inadvertently including the thrower, especially while trying to avoid it, then there's no penalty. For example, my throw hit a nearby tree and the disc rebounded back into my hands where I dropped it like hot potato. No penalty.

Practice throw rule would come into play if he threw the disc, because it already came to a stop. However, now that you say that, one could argue, he threw another opponents disc..., unless he was holed out....
I've gone cross-eyed....
