Need Some Disc Advice

Just to give you a little background on what I'm working with. My favorite driver is Star Eagle and can throw them 380ish and I currently throw Champ Boss and Star Katana for max D. The boss maxes out around 425+ and the Katana closer to 450+. My problem is that the Katana is so inconistent and even on hyzer flip I am struggling to keep them from turning too much. I'd like to find something that can give me that extra Katana type distance and turn but just not so much turn. A more stable Katana? What disc suggestions do you all have?

Discmania DD2 is basically the disc you describe. Stability between a Boss and a Katana. It's actually a Katana wing, with the Discmania "anhyzer" top which straightens it out a bit. So it has less turn than a Katana, but more than the Boss.

P-Lines (pro plastic) are the longest, with the most glide. S-Line (star) is a bit more stable (as is common for Star plastic) but still long. Although I haven't thrown one, people have said a lot of good things about the Echo Star DD2 as well.

It sounds like it's exactly the disc you're looking for.

If you're looking for Katana distance and similar flight, try Westside King as well if you don't mind browsing the King thread out to see how to find a one that suits you. Otherwise just get a discmania DD2, I think they're pretty consistent with their stability.

There are two kinds of ES-DD2's out there, the orange and the green ones. Orange ones are pretty comparable to your average domey S-Line, but the board flat green ones are more HSS and much better in the wind.

I used to have a C-DD2 and it was more overstable than my champ bosses; was it just an off C-DD2? I've heard really good things about the King it may be worth a try

I was in the same boat as you for a while. Bosses sometimes I just didn't get them up to speed, katana is just too flippy and squirley. I dumped em both and throw the DD2s now. Star for more stablity (I don't use it for a ton of wind....but mild wind its ok, if it's a HEADWIND I'll throw something else), and 2 of the pro plastic ones that bomb. If I don't hit them all the way they still end up being a pretty good shot, where a boss would hyzer out. I've tired the Nukes before too and prefer the 1st run esp to all of the others, but they are too expensive and hard to find now. I'm happy with the DD2s right now. Give one of those a shot, I'd start with a 172-3 ish in the P line with the kinda D that you have.

C-Lines are usually more overstable.

For max-D, definitely an S or P-Line around 170. I throw a 171 broken in P-Line for max-D at the moment and I'm just a bit under your power level.

Swords are slower and for me shorter than Kings. Unfortunately Kings tend to be very flippy if their outer edge droops and if they don't have a lot of dome. Domey high PLH is tasty indeed.

Hey caleb, I know I am way late on this but I am in the exact same position right now as you were with your original question. I love my Pro Katana but would like something just a little more stable. Can you please tell me what you are using now and how it played out as your original question for the thread sounded EXACTLY Like where I am right now. Thanks.
