The 7 Second Rule

Postby Mark Ellis » Sun Aug 28, 2011 2:16 pm

In a tournament the PDGA Rules give you 30 seconds to make a shot. In a casual round you should get 20 seconds. In a casual round where the mosquitoes are vicious and swarming ( like we have experienced the last month or so) you should get 7 seconds.

When you are standing around, waiting and waiting and waiting, you might as well just go to the Red Cross and donate. An article in a local paper claimed the mosquitoes were worse this year than the last decade. Maybe, maybe not but I know they are TERRIBLE. Even Deet is no real protection.

So c'mon, you don't really need to play slowly. Your best protection from the damn mosquitoes is movement ( and swinging your towel around your head constantly) so let's all develop a little efficiency.

PLEASE!!

A guy around here writes 7 on the front of all his discs b/c he doesn't want to take more than 7 seconds on a shot.

I live in Memphis.... We end up just running from basket to basket "dunking" our discs and just writing 18 "pars" on the card. We then all hop in a giant bubblebath together and pray for healing.

Depends on how much of a tolerance for snow you have.

Boone NC has no mosquitos. My entire year there, 0 mosquitos. What it does have though, is a lust for feet upon feet of snow. I can play through that though

I'm from upstate SC, so I love snow and never get enough... maybe I should move to Boone, an ex-roommate from Winthrop is there at App State for grad school now... I shall crash with him :)

Yes, indeed. You should come and visit some time.

Minnesota is brutal, terrible mosquitoes and lots and lots of snow. Still, disc golf here is pretty awesome. I wish I could play year round with out either.
