I enjoy participating in the field events and this setup is agreeable to me since I won't have a long commute. However if the event were in Pittsburgh, NY state or some place in VA I'd probably have a different opinion.

I hope some old schoolers from the old Octad tourneys show up.

I played about 60% or so of this layout on saturday for tags and it will be a great round! Talked to JD as he was measuring out the layout, he is looking forward to a great event! Played the round with Nate Krahn and he was looking good, said he is most concerned with Nick Schnider and of course Brinster!
The course looks great and is shaping up to be a good 2 days of golf!

So this event is looking to be awesome. The TD sent out a player's information pack last night with all in the info on the course distances, pars, a map, etc. along with information about all the field events such as distance, accuracy, etc.

I usually don't care about going to Sedgley too much. If they have a PDGA event, I'll go, but I'm not a huge fan of the course or the element there (it seems to be 10x worse than any other park I've been to as far as drugs and everything...but of course it is right smack in the middle of Philadelphia.) So far this event is looking fantastic. A ton of work has been done on the course, with a nice extended layout ready for the tourney, and it looks to be as well run as almost any tournament I'll attend this year. It seems Dr. John has really extended himself this year and gone above and beyond, and I hope he comes through like he always does.

Oh, and we have a new one to worry about in the distance competition: Bobby Cowperthwait is coming down from Connecticutt with the Solengs, and that boy has an arm and a half. At Pyramids one time, he and Brinster had a Roc distance competition and Bobby destroyed Steve. That distance transfers to long drivers too. He should probably be breaking 550 easy.

As for the golf, I'm definitely thinking Nick Schneider. He took third in the Yetter, beating Joey and Brinster among others, and took 4th in the Windjammer behind only Moser, Kallstrom, and Brinster... He's really stepped his game up in the past year, and on his home course that he plays almost every damn day, I think he can take it all.

For the fourth, my guess is Bard Soleng. IMO, probably going to be Bard, Sjur, Nick, and Stevie, but I'm hoping Nate will make a strong showing and prove me wrong.

Yeah, it seems I only play Sedgley when it's raining and muddy. This should be interesting...

FYI - those open holes out in the field are not on grass - it is only dirt and it WILL be muddy!

no matter, I am looking forward to it either way!
Alan, we HAVE to have a strong showing, last years 7th place tied finish for us was WEAK, we have to step it up!!!!!!!!

Whoa there, if I remember correctly, I pulled out ahead of the group and finished in 6th all by myself! :D

But yeah, definitely need a stronger showing this year. Shouldn't be hard though, I think we got top card easy. This year, when I play crappy, I'm still shooting 930 golf.

You could've won it, but Nate was playing super solid golf...

That was a funny 2nd round actually. I remember on the last hole thinking, if I make this putt I think I beat the group by a stroke and they all tie. And we were all pretty spread out coming in to it, too. Crazy.

What are you thinking top card for advanced? You, me, Erick, and Torin Morgan from DE is my guess. I played with him out in Pittsburgh and he's pretty solid.

I don't think I ever had a chance, but if I played in the 2nd round like I did in the first round, I might have been a little better off!

Advanced
Name PDGA# Current Rating City State Country
Alan Sweeton 22691 Yes 924 Skillman NJ USA
Carey Holleran 12247 937 Boca Raton FL USA
Christopher Poole 27201 842 Richland Hills TX USA
Daniel Youngblood 13981 847 Lees Summit MO USA
Eric Eichhorst 19462 Yes 926 Andalusia PA USA
Erick Simonds 22813 Yes 933 Trenton NJ USA
Gabe Bankes 30359 Yes 903 West Reading PA USA
Greg Ramirez 19510 Yes 866 Downingtown PA USA
John Genter 28087 Yes 913 Downington PA USA
Matt Haley 18848 Yes 928 Medford NJ USA
Michael Dudczak 30594 Yes 946 Philadelphia PA USA

Scott Ward 29712 Yes 927 Jenkintown PA USA
Tim Reyes 27937 Yes 931 Ardmore PA USA
Tom Demark
Tommy Poplawski 26140 Yes 903 West Chester PA USA
Torin Morgan 25651 Yes 930 Newark DE USA

as for the final group, I hope to be in it and competeing.... we'll see, there are a few good players on this list... I played with Tom Demark at Warwick one year and he plays pretty well - that is Lesli's brother. Tim Reyes is who beat us all at Tinicum the other weekend too!
I find I typically play much better on my first round of a day - so seeing as we are only playing 1 round per day, I hope to play very well!
that Simonds dude sucks anyway, I don't think he will even be in the mix!!!

Open top 4 and ties

1 Jake Azato
2 Nick Schneider
3 Steve Brinster
4 Bard Soleng
4 Bob Hoffman
4 Sjur Soleng

I don't know how much Jake has been playing lately but he knows Sedgeley well and has won a number of events there. He has a good sidearm, throws rynos and rocs super far and on occassion can be a phenomenal putter. Two questions about Jake are: can he play in inclement weather (sun)? and will he keep his head together?
