PLEASE help save our course!!!

Postby Skywalker-NOCO » Tue Jan 10, 2012 2:05 am

Hello, my name is Luc Hensley and I am the vice president of the Northern Colorado Disc Golf Club (NCDGC) in Fort Collins, CO. I am hoping to bring attention to a threat to disc golf in the northern Colorado area. The city of Fort Collins is proposing to reduce the beautiful Edora Park disc golf course from 18 holes to 9. We are vehemently opposed to this reduction. The course at Edora is over 20 years old and has long been a world-class tournament destination for players all over the area. Downsizing the course would be a devastating blow to the sport of disc golf in northern Colorado.

I have started a change.org petition to request that the city refrain from changing the course. I am humbly requesting for the petition to be spread as far as possible, and for anyone who supports disc golf to sign it and share it with their friends. We are hoping to gain 1,000 signatures before we present the petition to the Fort Collins city council. For updates on our fight players can check our official site or our facebook page. Thank you very much.

Note: I've also posted this on a few other forums including PDGA.com in hopes of spreading this as far and wide as possible. Please spread the petition via facebook if you can! Thank you!

Yeah, dropping from 18 to 9 is really bad. I know lots of people who won't go out of their way for 9 holes. It becomes too much time/gas expended for too little back. If you can avoid this at all, please do.

Any news? I signed it a few weeks back.

If it means anything, I'll be coming through Ft Collins every other year or so and will be much less inclined to visit that park if it only has 9 holes for disc golf.

Feel free to use that as ammo.

Serious bummer. I played Edora several years ago and thought it was one of the better courses I ever played.

Got to play in the Birdie Love event yesterday.
Sad to play the course for my last time with 18 baskets.

NCDGC is a great group.
best of luck
