www.baseballthinkfactory.org - Great, great general baseball forum for The Thinking Fan as the site's slogan says. Also good if you like rambling off-topic discussions about politics, the law (I swear like 70% of the posters are lawyers or went to law school), books, music, movies, social issues, and who the hell knows what else might spring up once a thread wanders off-topic.

i spent an hour or so reading how to grow and cure tobacco from links posted on that site. i can't stand tobacco but tobacco growers are interesting.

if disc golfers were as critical as the members of the pipe making site, nobody would play disc golf. those pipe makers are crazy anal.

Don't tell them I said this but... a lot of those guys sell their pipes and I think they think their customers are as educated in pipe engineering as they are. I believe 99% just want a pipe with pretty grain that doesn't gurgle when they smoke it. Still, I like talking about making pipes and seeing what other people are making, it's sort of where art meets function.

heh.. the last time i was actively posting on a forum/group was uh... late 90s/early 2000s usenet groups. i was in the Ensoniq/ASR-X group for my sampler and the Opcode Systems group for my sequencer. some of the Opcode posters went on to code the CoreMIDI stuff for OSX, so it was cool hearing about that in the super early days.

back in highschool (~96) my guru buddy for all things dialup internet was a hardcore smashing pumpkins fan, so i ended up spending a massive amount of time in an IRC #smashing_pumpkins channel that kinda devolved into a proto DGR where noobs were passively unwelcome and the same dozen regulars shot the shit for years. we even had a Blake_T... chris carman aka dead carmance, who wrote like 90% of SP guitar tabs up through mellon collie. a quick google reveals he's fucking legendary still

nowdays i lurk an Ableton Live forum, a couple home recording/production forums, and the 4can

i used to read lots of bands message boards back in the day. the king nerd of the localh board was dewey and he was like a prerube. even kinda looks like him.



a big difference is that dewey records all the shows he can go to and shares them. i think that board is almost dead but dewey still dominates. the hardcore localh fans that used that message board made horrible people.

Various forums mainly for the reason to get access to the contents, but the ones I actually use only include DGR, DGCR, Image Space Inc., Project CARS, F1Classic and the HistoriX mod team forums. So yeah, disc golf and racing sims.
