After watching Timko throw his FD this past weekend, I would say it has some similarities to an FD. I am still trying to figure out how the PDGA has the rim width at 2.1. It doesn't feel that wide. I was guessing it the same width as a striker or sidewinder. I will say this, it is really easy to work on various lines. It seems to be a fairly versatile disc.

I had a chance to throw the SP Undertow a little more over the weekend. I really liked it for a faster fairway driver. When thrown with 90% power, I could hyzer flip this thing pretty easily. Dialing it down to 70% was very TL'ish. It is definitely faster than a TL. I would say it falls in the 9 speed category. The one thing that is nice about it, the lip isn't razor sharp like an Avenger/Predator/Tsunami. Very comfortable to grip.

Proline Undertow = Massive Turd. It is nothing like the Sparkle version. Do not buy this disc, unless you want a less stable Avenger SS. The two I got I couldn't even keep in the air unless I was throwing with a 20 mph tailwind. I did throw a couple of nice rollers though...but I already have disc's for that shot.

I took a 166 and a 175 to test on the field.

The 175 had a decent fade and was near a PD, while the 166 had no fade whatsoever

I picked up a blue SP Undertow (marked 173-174), and immediately started throwing it during competition rounds. This is a fantastic disc! It has just a tick of high speed under-stability, low speed over-stable, and big skips. The transition between high speed and low speed behavior occurs at a relatively slow speed. Great glide. You can also torque on it a bit, with workable results. Backhand, it holds a tick of hyzer forever. It can be turned flat, or past flat, pretty easy to control. I've also had some success forehanding this disc, it seems relatively forgiving. On the Innova scale, I'd put it between speed 9 and 10. But you don't have to get it to very high speeds to get it into the high speed character part of the flight.

The Monarch rim feels a bit wider in the hand. Also, the Monarch is more nose-angle sensitive. The Monarch is essentially a distance turning disc. The Undertow has a slow controllable turn, reliable fade, and great skip action.

Anyone get the glow undertows yet?

I take this disc is more neutral? Is it as fast as a QOLS or TD? Is it easier to work than those two? How far are you able to push it out to?

My buddy who is part of the DGA Team let me throw his glow a few times this past weekend. It definitely has more stability than the proline runs. It is very straight. The Sparkle and Glows are legit disc's...but the proline still suck IMO.

It was the same story with the Hurricane. The Prolines start out flying nicely just out-of-the-box, but after a little bit of wear they become difficult to control, and either hold the line or flip hard depending on the slightest change in release angles. The SP Hurricane, on the other hand, is a superb disc, and very reliable, especially in headwinds.

We saw a lot of Undertows being thrown this weekend at Masters Cup. The glow versions are out, but they're supposed to fly just like the SP versions...they didn't seem to be any stiffer blend than usual SP.

No. It dumps out pretty hard as it slows down, much harder than a Valk.

So, I recently put a Glow Undertow in the bag to mess around with. I am very pleased with the flight of this disc. It really is a very straight flying disc with a little bit of late fade on the end of its flight. I was throwing a crisp new domey S-FD for this shot, but I think the GlowTow will stay in the bag for a little while as it is a more durable plastic than the S-Line. The other thing is that the Glow's and the SP's are becoming more readily available, so I can get a replacement for it if I lose it, whereas before it was tough to find a replacement. I will be playing Woodhenge tomorrow, so I hope to give the GlowTow a thorough testing in tight fairway situations.

Anybody else out there still throwing the Undertow?
