New England courses - Poison ivy question

Hi All,

I'm new to disc golf and I just played my first game at Borderland State Park in Easton, MA. I had a lot of fun, but the thought that poison ivy was lurking all over the course wasn't very comforting and really took away from the experience. Does anyone know of some New England courses that have little to no poison ivy? I was thinking of heading to Maple Hill and Pyramids in Leicester next.

Is getting poison ivy just an inevitable part of disc golf? How often do you get it? Does it help to play in the winter?

Any input is much appreciated.

watch where you play. if you are highly allergic bring windex with you. clean your disc after it goes in the schule. wear long socks. lots of ways to beat it. best way is to stay on the fairway.

Maple Hill and Pyramids should be fine, so should Newton Hill if you're still in that area. Pyramids is the only place I think I MIGHT have acquired a little Ivy, and it was definitely cause I was WAY off the beaten path.

Cause the local guy here who lives in southern Maine wouldn't know about P-Ivy in New England right?

There are some good ointments on the market in case you get exposed. There is Tecnu, and also Zanfel (which claims to be even better). They both work fine for me. If you're in an area where you think you've been exposed, be sure to treat/wash the exposed parts of your skin immediately after your round is finished.

Extremely important: Use cool water when washing it off, warm/hot water opens the pores of your skin and allows the oil to infiltrate deeper inside it, and it can even get into your blood stream. For those who are highly sensitive, this can lead to blood infections, and even death.
