yes, prob September call up to test the waters. I don't know if you saw him at all during ST but he was pretty bad at hitting anything that wasn't a fastball that was thrown by a MLB level pitcher.

They'd be pretty dumb to call him up earlier. No reason to possibly make him a super 2.

if he's better than what they've got in center and they are in contention (which appears to be the case) he'll be brought up... his defense is more likely to keep him down than not being able to hit big league pitching...

they've never thought of him as a catcher... takes away from the longevity of his bat too much. right field was the initial plan but now it seems to be center. i listen to dc sports radio most of the time in the greenhouse so am inundated with nationals even though i'm not much of a baseball guy. anything is better than hearing about the spineless ass caps.

It would be pretty dumb to bring up your big young bat when he gets fooled by any off speed pitch thrown at him. His defense is gonna be bad but he can probably hang out in center for a couple of years until they can move him to left.

Also it's a bit early in the season to say they will be in contention. Even if they are in contention I don't see him getting a call up until september anyway.

At any rate, Morse is hurt and Harper didn't get the call. Washington obviously does not think he can play yet, and based off of ST I would tend to agree. I would not expect to see him in the Bigs anytime soon.

main reason the national's look likely to contend is the phillies have no bats.

I read that Rick Ankiel is coming off the DL and the Senators are going to play him is center. I didn't know Ankiel was even still on the roster. I guess if they are comfortable with him as an everyday CF then rushing Harper up really makes no sense.
