DGR Discs Spring/Summer 2012

Postby Timko » Wed May 02, 2012 9:57 am

Here's a quick rundown of the DGR discs that I expect before the summer next year.

1. Flattened dx Rocs (using the stamp that's already created).
2. Discraft run of at least 2 discs (using a new stamp).

More information to come!

Rocs are happening for sure, using the already designed Zam stamp. They'll be flat tops.

Then a run of Discraft discs. I want to do Preds, Comets, and Nukes, but I'm not sure yet.

Might be in business for some of those fluorescent pink max weight Z Comets with megagiga dome.

probably a pred too, I need to try one out at some point and why not do it with a DGR stamped one.

Flat top Rocs is where it's at for that disc. My Bliz 155 Boss outdistances everything i've thrown so far so the Nuke ain't the top dog any more at ESP 161-163. Why not substitute that for DGR Blizzard Boss? A lot of people throw the Boss probably.

Turso why would you want a super domey Comet? ESP has good dome and flies well. X is flatter and turns more. I would imagine that ESP domed Zs would be great. Ron Russell Comet recreations?
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

ESPs fly understablish out of the box for me, and that's not what I look for in a comet. Well not in most comets anyhow, I have X for understable duty, but I need to run them through a meat grinder or something to make em properly understable because tens of full power tree hits doesn't seem to do it.

Honestly, the other idea I've got is for Blizzard stuff. Maybe even Blizzard PD2s and DD2s since we seem to have a bit of a Discmania fetish here.

YMMV but in regular plastics in regular weights i'm power limited so the Bosses even in Pro 170 broken in are shorter for me than 175 Echo Star DD2 after breaking in not to talk about a broken in P DD2. A new ES 175 DD2 is a hog and way shorter than almost any fast disc unless there is a huge headwind to delay the massive fade. Massive for my noodle.

I keep hearing that the Ron Russel Comets were way longer and better in many other ways but i've never even seen one. That's where the Comet is supposed to be at. Z fades more than the ESP but there isn't a large difference in HSS between my ESP 2nd runs and Zs. I've heard that there are variations in ESPs.

I may need no new discs or i may need low power requirement discs or my season may be cancelled. I'm going to surgery and the sick leave is a minimum of two weeks and could be 8. So i imagine returning to playing will take longer. Bye bye the short summer of Finland i'm afraid.

Yeah the difference between my high shoulder dome flat'ish rest z-comets and the 3rd run ESPs is very minimal probably not there at all really, but the ESPs seem way more sensitive to OAT if that's even possible, and I'm not releasing them as well as the Z's for some reason, guessing it's the flexibility of the plastic, don't like it in comet mold. 400' should be easy with a Ron Russel if they're way longer than current Z's are, but I don't really put much value on legends because they're mostly nostalgia foggying the mind :)

I rarely use comets for a shot which the 1 or 2 meter fade which I get with my z-comets would ruin or even make it worse at all really, all my sub 300' is usually putter work.

Shit luck with the surgery timing, I hope it's supposed to put you in a better overall shape at the least?
