119-Disc Distance Challenge: Do today's big arms compare?

Dave is right that Ken's throw was not in an official distance event, it was an "exhibition." And in fact, there is no officially sanctioned sidearm distance record that is recognized by any governing body. Ken's 552' is simply the longest sidearm throw that was ever witnessed and measured. The reason I mention Ken's throw is that it is also the longest known throw for the 119, which makes it relevant to the question I posed above.

OK, folks, so here is the answer:
-In competition Nate Doss actually won the 119 competition, throwing just a hair under 300'.
-In practice, out of many many throws, Jeremy Koling got 2 over 300' and one of these was about 370'.

The wind was weak all day, and diminished by the time we got around the to official competition. I think that with a healthy 10-20 MPH wind it should be possible for these guys to push them out to 350', but that's a big throw for a 119-disc!

For comparison, Avery had the longest throw in the regular competition, throwing 636' with a Blizzard Boss (he was using 150-160g range). Jeremy and Myles Harding got a few throws in just under 600'.

I would have thought that they could have adjusted better. At least Big Jerm with his smooth flicks.

I think the wind simply did not cooperate. It was firm at the beginning, but then soft and gusty, sometimes even giving a little R->L component which is really tough to deal with. Nate won because his throws were the smoothest and most controlled. Big Jerm injured his arm throwing these things sidearm, and it affected his first round at Masters Cup, but after some ice, a good party, and some great times with the crew, he healed up just fine.
