So here's how the dye turned out. Not sure why I got bleeding; I dyed it cold with contact paper.

How long did you let it sit?

My experience with contact paper is the longer you let it sit the more it breaks down the glue and the more bleeds you get. One of the reasons I switched to vinyl.

Not long at all.
I think the problem might have been a combo of:
[*]Elite-X plastic (Pro-like?)
[*]Not removing the adhesive after the first color (blue dot)
[*]Possibly, that I used rubbing alcohol in the dye mix. I heard that suggestion a while ago, and it REALLY makes the dyeing go a lot quicker. Now that I think about it, though, it may be dissolving the adhesive.

Should have dyed the black first then dyed the blue dot. You don't have to remask if you dye over black.

1) Dye your blacks first
2) Any things you add to the liquid that isn't water or the dye will usually loosen up the edges. That's why you've got bleeds. Speed shouldn't be a huge factor. If you heated the dye up, you should be getting solid black in under 10 minutes (depending on the plastic). Pro plastic will be harder to get the dye to adhere to, or at least to get a deeper color.
