2012 Worlds Distance Comp

Postby archimedesjs » Wed Jul 18, 2012 2:04 pm

Anybody else see the interview of Big Jerm after winning the long distance competition? In it he mentions that he threw an X Nuke almost 700', and only 10'-15' off of the ground, with very little wind assistance. Was he joking around, or was he serious to the heighth of the shot? Does anybody know of any footage of this, and if so, could you post a link? I didn't think a 700' shot was possible that low to the ground, I'm kind of blown away.

Seriously, all the DG nerds on here and NOBODY knows the backstory behind the throw? Had to be somebody who knows somebody, who knows somebody, who actually saw the drive.

700', 10'-15' height, and practically no wind? I call utter BS on that one. Video and official measuring needed before I'll swallow that story.

Heard it was a little downhill which can make a big difference.

That apex height is highly dubious. Seems like A 700' throw with a Nuke has to rise up more than that.

I'm more surprised that Feldberg managed to match Avery at 618'. Makes me think it was a little downhill and Avery just didn't get any good rips.

I read it was 10-15 degrees downhill with a decent tailwind

He said 10-15 feet of elevation. Meaning 10-15 feet downhill, not 10-15 feet off the ground for his shot.

Now THAT makes sense, thanks for the clarity.
