Watched Rushmore recently, that movie gets better every time I see it. I need to see Moonrise Kingdom bad.

Watched two Hitoshi Matsumoto films, the mockumentary Dai Nipponjin (Big Man Japan) and the period film Saya-Zamurai (Scabbard Samurai), and I have to say I enjoyed both quite immensely. Went in looking for random Japanese weirdness and funnay, ended up with two very different but emotional and well told deconstructions of the kaijuu and samurai genres respectively, along with a lot of laughs. I need to watch Symbol, judging by the trailer I'm expecting it to be weird more than anything else, but after those two I wouldn't be surprised if it just turned out to be a great movie in it's own right.

I saw moonrise kingdom tonight. It was good. Most of its humor is dry and/or centered around awkwardness. It reminded me a lot of the richie/margot relationship from tenenbaums.

Wow Life Aquatic so low... Why? That is by far my favorite Wes Anderson flick (granted I haven't seen Moonrise, Bottle Rocket or Darjeeling and I've only seen the Royal Tenenbaums once a long time ago (I am in the process of locating a copy to view)).

It's hard to stretch satire out for 2 hours without having it wear on you. I can understand why life aquatic is a very hit or miss movie with many watchers, especially since most people don't understand satire.

When i saw tenenbaums my immediate reaction was "wow, this is one of the best movies i've seen in a long long time."

I haven't really gotten that vibe from anything i've seen from him since then. I like wes anderson a lot and been following him since bottle rocket aired as part of the sundance specials on cinemax back in the 90's. I just have no idea where he's going now (i feel the same way about noah baumbach post squid and the whale).

I haven't seen Moonrise Kingdom, but for me Mr. Fox tops that list easily. I haven't been quite as enamored with his other films as damn near everyone else I know has been.

Only the Darjeeling Limited has openly disappointed me. That movie just dragged. I tried to give it a 2nd and 3rd chance but it's just not that good. I gotta see Moonrise Kingdom, I love Wes.

well this holiday season I've caught up on my movie going (new father). Haven't seen everything I wanted to but hell I got netflix and I'll hit a redbox too.

Skyfall was good. best Daniel Craig Bond movie.
The Hobbit was a travesty. I don't give a fuck about retroactive continuity. I just wanted to see Guillermo del Torro's imagining of the story I read so many times in middle school. no they added all this shit about warg riding orcs chasing them.
Les Miserables was boring as shit. My wife didn't even like that much singing. but she picked it and I picked the Hobbit so we're even.
Cloud Atlas was a pleasant surprise. Nothing out of this world just 6 good movies crammed together. The book may get a read.
Silver Linings Playbook was surprisingly funny and engaging. Bradly Cooper showed he can actually act. Jennifer Lawrence was smokin in all her curvaceousness.

2. Hotel Chevalier short was good just not good enough to save the rest of that movie.
3. I watched that one with my father in law and he is a wet blanket. I feel like him being in the room kinda put me off. It deserves another watch (I own all the others and will probably buy this one).




EDIT: I guess Sam Raimi spent all his spiderman money...
