Ultimate player to disc golf

Postby Cavere » Mon Aug 06, 2012 5:13 pm

I just started a friend of mine on disc golf who is a very competitive ultimate player. We played a round and I had her throw a zephyr along with her ultimate disc. The zephyr didn't work as well for her but she was putting both to almost 200'.

She wants to play in a local tournament and I was wondering if an ultimate disc is legal for DG play?

It depends on the brand of Ultimate disc and whether it was ever submitted for PDGA approval. Discraft's Ultimate disc, the Ultra Star is PDGA legal.

Ultimate discs teach a hyzer release to fly straight so start your friend on some understable drivers. For close shots a Rattler will feel more normal in her hands than most putters.

Thank you mark. I started her with a zephyr and a birdie for sake of comfort in the hand. Also with nationals on the fall she doesn't want to mess with her throwing form right now.

I noticed the hyzer release pretty quickly. I had her throw my beat fuse a few times for some flip and glide.

I saw that thread dgdave. But my friend doesn't want to start on discs yet to avoid possibly messing up her throwing form for ultimate.
