The Pale Hose came back and won that game last night. They might be OK, they just can't beat the Royals. The Yankees are pretty much in control of the East anyway. The real race for the O's is for the wild card anyway, and the Twins knocked off the A's last night. The real problem this week might be Tampa playing Kansas City and Detroit beating up on Toronto if the O's can't take down the Rangers.

Still a lot of baseball left after this week...

A friend of mine who lives in some gawdawful Latin gang-infested Orange County hellhole has started emailing me again since I guess some loser I don't care about that plays 1B for the Angels is hitting HR's again. Anyway, I pointed out that the Angels have sucked since the All Star break and he responded that they still have all these games against playoff contenders so they can play their way back in. It was the first time I heard someone try to say having a tough schedule was a good thing.

I don't really hate Trout, he's just the most over-hyped thing since Wonder Bread. Seriously, they were conceding the ROY AND MVP to him at the All-Star break? Get a life...

If the Angels had build a team around Trout and Trumbo instead of driving up salaries by overpaying a bunch of Vernon Wells has-beens, I'd root for them. Instead they have thrown money around like drunk sailors and put together a team that is no better than if they would have stayed with the farm system.

Seriously, the signed Gary Matthews, Jr. to the worst contract ever. Then when Toronto topped them with the Vernon Wells contract, they traded for him and didn't even make Toronto eat any of it. It's like they HAVE to have a horrible contract on their books to function.

It's kinda like tradition when the Yankees buy a championship. When anyone else does it, it's just sleazy. Think 90's Orioles. Anybody really get misty thinking about the Rafael Palmeiro/Roberto Alomar O's?

Edit: I'm also starting to really dislike the pale hose, I'm ok with the players but having to hear Hack Horribleson's terrible "put it on the board" and orgasmic "yes!" on MLB network every day has really shone a bad light on them for me.

I get a little misty eyed because that was the only time I've had a winning baseball team to root for. I've seen video, read articles and heard stories about the Orioles in the 60s-80s but I was born in '85 and obviously didn't catch any of that for myself.

Sweet win last night. If the Orioles can pull off a W tonight it would be a VERY impressive road trip.
