Another putter destroying basket

Postby JHern » Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:10 pm

Seriously, has Latitude 64 never talked to the 99% of disc golfers who hate Innova baskets for installing that stupid sharp ring around the top?

Your discs get cut up when you throw them into a flat surface orthogonal to the plane that is parellel to the plane the disc sits in?

The chastity belt eats up your putters? I must be part of the 1% that doesn't have that problem.

I have to agree with JHern. That band rips up putters.
If the object of disc golf were to hit trees, I'd be 1100 rated.

If you hit the chains, it won't be an issue. :P

Those are definitely annoying but at least they don't have the old number sign on top like the old mach's do. You hit one of those and your disc is like 10 grams lighter.

I'm really having a hard time seeing how the belt can badly chunk putters.

The worst damage done to any of my putters was definitely from the number plate on Mach 3's.

The question is why have all the other manufacturers kept on being idiots and not added the ring on their baskets? All baskets should have it.

The top of the belt acts life a knife to a disc that is a little lower in part than the top of the belt. Most of the disc carries on like normal in a hit because there's nothing but air in the way. The unlucky lowest part of the disc is being slashed by a sharp hard object (90 degree bend in the metal=blade at speeds for plastic).
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

I'm guessing it has to do with most people not really wanting to spend over $400 for a basket they're just going to be putting in the backyard. The price difference for that extra set of chains is pretty significant (in the marketplace, the price doubling may or may not reflect cost accurately) and far less people are going to be willing to pay a few hundred extra dollars for a nonessential feature.

I like the band. Can it mess up your putter? Yup, rarely. No more than the number plate though.
Reason i like it is, if you hit high, and get that "clank" that everyone hates, it rarely rolls after. On a different basket they tend to fly off and land on edge a lot.

The band wouldn't be that bad if they just rolled the top edge over so it rounded it instead of keeping it sharp.
