What's up with the new batch of DX plastic?

I figure the batch has a mixture of the r-pro in it. If so, it's making the DX plastic really crappy. The break in time is quick.

I've heard theories that it's related to making wide rimmed drivers in DX. In order to get a DX Boss down into lighter weights they've [supposedly] had to alter the mixture which has made it softer in recent years. Could be hog wash and it's just a regular variation but it is pretty buttery. I've found that Aviars and Rocs still maintain their stability pretty well even after some pretty good punishment. Drivers are another story though...

The eagles and Tbirds have sucked. The beat in time is a lot faster.

Part of the problem is that they [TB/EX] have been molding up domey with low PLH and just start out less stable but you are right the plastic is more malleable. Rocs and Aviars are quite a bit more tolerant to wing warping and chunking, and a lot easier to bend back to shape, so they're still usable.
