I wonder how much control innova actually has over discmania discs? I thought they just molded for them. Didn't realize that they created the molds too, but now that I think about it that's sort of naiive of me isn't it?

Well basically Jussi tells Dave what he wants (or Dave might come up with something he thinks Jussi would like), they then try the mold out, tweak it if necessary (PD took four molds to get where they wanted it to be) and when Jussi says it's OK they take it into production. However Innova still is responsible for doing them, and since they don't care and/or have idiots working the molding machines on occasion, shit gets fucked.

Probably pretty beefy with a harsh fade. Longer straight portion of the flight than a Firebird and less abrupt and hard fade but not by much. MiniPred/FB.

If those really are the original CFR C-PDs then they're overstable to the point of being just under Firebirds. They do retain quite a bit of their PD behavior (penetrating fade preceded by a straight flight), but they really are overstable enough to handle just about anything. Also great for thumbers.

Thanks! Thats prob not what I'm lookin for then. I just need a good stable non-plus rimmed pd (or 2) and I don't really have the luxary or picking through a stack of them. I liked the s one I had a couple yrs back, these just sounded nice with the flater tops....not a fan of domey discs.

Depends on what you're looking for, but yeah, they're not the archetypal PDs most love. They're absolutely amazing companions to them though. =)

DGR P PDs stamped flatter than normal Ps. The DGR Ss and regular Ss are taller than DGR Ps. P PDs are the straightest ones especially after breaking in.

Im hoping they fall right between my stable champ EX's and stable destroyers, maybe even take some destroyer duties. Any specific s-line run I should look for thats dead straight.

If can get lighter champ teebirds to 400ish on a stand up hyzer how much will pds overlap?

Can we get a quick summary of what the "Archetypal PDs most love" are and how to find them?

They are rare at this point. When they were first run, people loved the champystar blends (usually yellow or red) because they would start out stable and beat into really straight. Most S PD's will stay stable for a really long time (for under 400' throwers) and eventually will start to turn just a little, but still keep a strong fade. That's not the PD that people on here love the most, but it's still a great disc.

I remember finding a first run red S PD in the used bin at PIAS a few years ago, not knowing what it was. Unfortunately, the first owner wanted it to fly understable out of the box, so he put it on the ground and used his foot to grind it down on the bottom. It would flip on 250' of power. In hindsight, it's a sad story, but at the time I had no idea.

I've moved down in speed/power from PD's because the "good" PD's are hard to find, and the other ones needed more power and were not as versatile for me as I would have hoped. Also, because the recent runs of P PD's were stiff and would chip when they hit a hard surface instead of getting scuffed or dinged.

Currently P PDs should be the easiest to rotate to get to decently straight but i'm afraid the best ones for straightness are a thing of the past. Current ones are good too but with breaking in them to less fading will also make them flip a little and the plastic is softer and less durable to the point of needing to be thrown only when there aren't a lot of rocks around if you wanna avoid a really fast beating and damage to the looks of the disc. The upside to that is a faster breaking in and tackier feel for better grip. So you could get a straightish a little flipping disc soon especially in something like 166-168.

ummm good pds are NOT hard to find. just about any spd is a good one.
