High Speed Driver Help. Legacy?

Postby Mixed Bag Madness » Wed Jan 16, 2013 8:31 pm

This year I'm planning on moving beyond my Destroyers and trying some of the faster discs again. I'm at 425ft average on flat ground line drive lines (Drivers) and normally throw Star plastic for my drivers. I'm thinking that the Cannon from Legacy may work good for me but I was wondering what the differences between the Icon and Pinnacle plastics were and how consistent they are. I also had good success with the Memorial Nukes when I was throwing 60ft less than I am now but all of the Nukes I've tried since then have been all over the place. I also found a Star Katana in Oregon that worked good but have only thrown that one. Should I wait for the magical Prodigy discs to come out? I'm open to any suggestions that anyone has. Thanks. 8)

Katanas and Nukes vary. I got burned by early (really really) quickly breaking in primo Legacies so i'd like to know too. It may have been the fact that mine came from the early (first?) run and others said they varied then and some had identical Cannons and Rampages and with very little throwing only on the field they became similar. So i don't know but would like to know.
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

You could probably pick up some Cannons on here for cheap used. I think I've heard/read that the Icon is a bit more stable than the Pinnacle version. Not sure. I have a Pinnacle Rampage and it feels and flies like a good Nuke (closest thing I have thrown in comparison). Others in this area have had similar experiences.

1st run Purple Icon Cannons. Longest disc I've ever thrown. Period.

I just picked up a used blue first run Icon Cannon, I'm going to the field in a few hours to check it out.

The Cannon sounds like what I want. How consistent is the Icon line?

Legacy Rampage and Icon have a really distinctive rim feel, a lot more depth especially relative to the Katana. It is really good for players with long fingers. I have 2 first run Icon Cannons and 2 first run Pinnacle Rampages, and they all came out over-stable to begin.

I got a first run blue Pinnacle Cannon which turned easily like a beast so I traded it before I tried to figure out a hyzer flip or high anny distance line for it. I picked up two green moderately used icon rampages that go really far with a stable straight flight and late fade like a longer sword. I recently revised the cannon in white icon, a new 167. It definately fades earlier than my seasoned icon rampages but its NOT a 10mph+ headwind disc unless you need 40' turn on a low line at 425'.
