You can't over depend on sabermetrics.

I meet up with Juke to throw a couple times a year. We set aside about a half hour each time to mock sabermetrics. I'll have to bring up BGAR next time; I'm sure you will be declared the career leader in that stat.

Damn, you made me look. It appears that Pete Rose is tied for 59th with Jeff Bagwell in career WAR. Mike Mussina has a better career WAR than Pete Rose.

WAR is an alright stat but the problem with the stat is it tries to sum up a ballplayer in one number, you gotta use like at least 30 numbers to figure out how good a dude is at baseball.

how would you measure balls gargling above replacement? outside of the problems with the replacement, is it the number of balls? length of time? does the size of the balls matter? or would it be broken down into individual stats that are weighted and then aggregated into a single measure. you're going to have data issues as well. somebody should email sean smith.

Really no need to analyze it, son. My lead over the field in any sane measure of BGAR is so astronomical that attempting to quantify it is actually kinda embarrassing.

I'm astounded by the disparity between how many discs are apparently being purchased over there and how many times they've actually thrown any of them. I suppose it's comparable to guys with huge guitar collections and the knowledge of three chords but I struggle to think of other comparisons.
