more stable stingray?

I'm looking for a disc that is similar to the stingray but a bit more overstable. Would a champion version be what I'm looking for?

You could try a Panther or Cobra, too. From what I understand they're both similar to the Stingray but a bit more overstable.

try a champion stingray, Champion plastic is always more overstable than DX plastic, getting a Champion stingray to turn over as much as a beat up one is a lot different.
I have a 180 Champion and a 175 Dx plastic stingray, and the Champion one doesnt turn over nearly as much as the regular plastic. Might be what your looking for.


I'd give you suggestions as for discs that turn over around the same amount as a stingray, but they are drivers and dont have the same glide as it.
Valkyrie, Archangel are a couple, but they are a lot faster.

the cobra = beaded stingray and was designed to be 1 step more stable/overstable. that would fall into "a hair more overstable" catgegory.

the storm would be a 1-2 steps more overstable with similar speed/glide characteristics

the thing w/ champion plastic is that i rarely treat it like the same disc as it's dx counterpart. if you want slightly more stable than a dx stingray, a dx cobra will probably fit the bill better than a champion stingray. a champion cobra will probably be closer to a storm but not as long. a dx panther is also of similar stability but is quite a bit faster.

I just got myself a 164 dx stingray and this thing is great brand new. It seems to glide forever as it holds a turn without turning into the ground. But I think that it is gonna be to understable quick after a few runins with trees. So would you say a champion stingray would be exactly what I'm looking for?

no... champion plastic never really approximates the flight of the dx versions. keep in mind discs last longest in their "broken in" stage. the "recommended" discs have already been written about.

imo you are always better off breaking in a slightly more stable disc to approximate a longer lasting "new" type flight of a less stable disc than trying to find similar flight by changing plastics. the flight characteristic differences are just too drastic with the plastic change.
