Modifying a Fade Crunch?

Postby Fightingthetide » Sun May 12, 2013 7:07 pm

I'm curious to know if anyone has modified a Fade Crunch bag by putting some sort of structure in it to where you can put the discs sideways.

If can get 14 in there sideways easily, but it compresses the putter pocket too much.

I was thinking some sort of stiff, flat material might work for an internal support structure, which would keep the putter pocket from collapsing. I'm thinking of it in my head, but can't think of what to call it other than "plastic cardboard".

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thin sheet of balsa wood? Or make a frame out of 1/4 inch dowels? Not sure if either would work, just throwing ideas out there.

Kel, what's the fun in that?

I'll tinker around with a few things and see if I can come up with a DIY mod.

I guess I'm just lazy, that and I wanted a bigger bag but not a "tourney" sized bag.

That's where I'm at...except translate lazy into cheap.

14 discs + 2 putters seems to be exactly what I need these days, unless it's a short course.

So far I've noticed the Crunch isn't exactly wide enough for discs to go sideways, but it expands enough to make it work.

This is why I changed my mind from Crunch to Innova Deluxe.

I am similar. I have an Innova starter bag which holds 12 comfortably. I want something bigger to carry around 14 discs plus some room for bug spray, wallet, keys, snacks, etc. Was looking at the DGA Elite Shield Bag. I saw one bad review regarding durability but other reviews have been very good.

Keltik, have you had any durability issues with yours?

The plastic cardboard is called corrugated plastic and can be found at sign shops easily. To see if it will work you could try with regular cardboard or even an old license plate.
