Overhand Distance Record.

Postby schmuknasty » Wed Jan 29, 2014 1:00 am

Does anyone know the overhand distance record? BECAUSE I SHALL OVER COME IT!!!
Along with that, what is (in your opinion) the best disc for overhand?

probably in the 400 foot range id imagine if it was a PDGA legal disc and not an EPIC

anyone else have any real facts on this matter? im all speculation.

I can verify shots slightly better than 400' with a Nuke OS. I saw the same kid throw an Epic almost 700'. Goofy.

Epic is still PDGA approved. I don't think another disc could touch it for pure distance shots. Accuracy is another issue.

Sorry that my memory fails me on what Ville Piippo has told me about his throws. At least 500' IIRC back when he was in better health and probably not even close to 700' even with the Epic that Ville has thrown too on top of regular discs. Ville likes Monster but has moved away from those. He throws a large variety of discs overhead. Any disc can and/or should be tilted according to power and intended flight lines. Usually the longest tosses come from overstable discs. Few discs are so understable that they barrel roll twice even for powerful throwers for good D. IIRC Ville said that he has gotten three barrel rolls out of tuned Epics. Imagine how unpredictable that is :-D
Flat shots need running on the center line of the tee and planting each step on the center line. Anhyzer needs running from rear right to front left with the plant step hitting the ground to the left of the line you're running on. Hyzer is the mirror of that.

The shot that I saw this kid throw with an Epic was 16 paces past a hole gps measured @ 635'. It went right over the basket on a line from the tee. Everyone there knew it was a fluke, but it was amazing nonetheless. He is a former baseball pitcher, and can go over 500 (again gps measured) sidearm. His backhand, oddly enough, isn't that great. And yes we give him shit about that.
