Newest Dye Job (Images)

Postby Fritz » Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:03 am

So I attempted a new technique on this dye job I did for Mikey. I wanted to make the tribal looking bird appear to be a "ghost" and then the M dominate. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Ghost bird looks really awesome. How long did you put it in the dye for, just a dunk?

I dipped the pattern on the bird first for about 5 minutes, then used 100% acetone and quickly rubbed it with cotton balls until I got the "ghost" effect I wanted. Then I cut a new template for the M and did a 9 minute dip.

Check out Acid's Dye Tutorial, he gives a list. You don't nee dthat many boxes of rit off the bat, but it helps to have variety :)

I use a Xacto Pen, Contact Paper/Vinyl and my computer to print out templates on postcard grade paper.

Bought an old pan from teh good will / thrift store

and yer good to go.
