Removing color from stamp

Postby Jimmy » Thu Mar 27, 2008 2:53 pm

How easy is it to remove only the color from a hot stamp? I'm talking about a rainbox hot stamp on Innova Pro plastic. I hate rainbow stamps. Can I make it just silver?

Float the disc upside down in a dish of acetone. It doesnt take long for the color to start coming off. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute should work, but it might take a couple of tries.

It could also take the chrome off as well. If it does that you might as well remove the stamp completly

Go to my dye tutorial in my signature. Innova stamps are hella easy to get off.
You CAN get that silver understamp, but it's going to be really hard to get JUST the rainbow off and keep the understamp clean looking.

I do this all the time on Pro plastic, get pure acetone, usually in the beauty section at drug stores, pour just enough to cover the stamp on the disc, and rinse it about 3-5 seconds later. Do not let the acetone run or your color will stain the disc. Just let drops land on top of the stamp. Another easy way is use a soft sponge, soak it with acetone, then wipe the stamp a couple times, then immediately rinse.
