Exactly. Look at the line from masterbeato's wrist bone to the end of his thumb. Compare that to freeus's. Getting your thumb into correct position will help a lot.Blake_T wrote:freeus:

I had to use my other hand and physically force the fingers into position at first and it hurt like #@!!8*; my whole forearm is still kinda throbbing. After a while I found that for some reason it is easier to put the fingers inside the rim first and then raise the disc to the "above the seam" position, rather than try and bring the fingers up to the disc. Also putting the thumb forward more helps some. By the end I think I was getting something fairly close to masterbeato's picture. Next I'll try some actual throws. Thanks for all the advice, I can honestly say I would -never- have come up with this grip on my own. Now...here's hoping it produces results

Yes. Just like you described. I can either have all four fingers curled into the rim (barely), or the disc above the seam, but not both. Every time I think I've made progress, I realize that all I've done is rotate my wrist too far clockwise, and if I fix that then the disc is dropping down on the left side by about 20 degrees. Thumb forward helps, but only a little. Sitting at home and trying it I get cramps in my hand, or pain in my forearm back to my elbow as I try to force my hand to bend the way it should. It's pretty frustrating, since it seems like it should be about the easiest thing in the world to just put something in your hand and hold it. I haven't given up, but I'm definitely frustrated.
