Bad memories...Super Bowl Sunday 1988, I was in college. Bad all-night drinking binge the night before, get up and the ceiling in the living room is on the floor. I wake up my roommate and he looks up at the big hole in the ceiling, water dripping everywhere and wet insulation all over and he says "Dude, what DID we do last night?" Anyway, we call the landlords and they are out of town for the weekend, so we go to a Super Bowl party at the other end of the building. Right in the middle of the first half the landlords stop by and want us to go look at the apartment. Broncos are up 10-7. We go look at the damage, the landlord makes a call to get us a place to stay and we go back to the party. We were gone for 20 minutes. Redskins are up 35-10. Game over, we missed it.
Of course, most of you probably are not old enough to remember that game. I turned 21 two weekends before that game. Damn, life just slips on by.
Anyway...bad roof in January. I lived in a hotel for two months before they could fix it. The hotel was right over by the Hearns Center and the Athletic Department offices. Woody Woodenhoffer was Mizzou's head football coach and he used to drink in the hotel bar. He coached for the Steelers in the 70's and had all these awesome stories about the steel curtain that he would tell when he got drunk, which was every night. Also all the visiting basketball teams used to stay at that hotel, so those guys would be in the bar. Nothing like hanging out with Mookie Blaylock listening to some dumpy drunk guy babble some story about L. C. Greenwood stepping on a tackle’s head during a playoff game.
Other than that, living in a hotel sucked. I hope your place gets fixed soon.
