Higher quality throwing videos

Postby Blake_T » Sun Feb 26, 2006 6:33 pm

I have a lot of higher quality throwing videos that are on this site posted here:
http://stickitdg.com/gallery/Disc-Golf-Videos

these are in mpeg4 or divx (divx format requires the divx codec available free at www.divx.com)

These look cool Blake :D Are these the same videos that are on the discgolfreview website??

Is it just me or does Aleksey Bubis have little to no follow through?? Same with Brian Donahue, except with Brian he seems to follow through with his upper body, but kinda falls through with his legs(instead of follow through). How do these guys keep from hurting themselves?? As opposed to say Barry Schultz and Keith Warren, who in the finish of their follow through, almost have their back facing the target.

When Brad Hammock drives, I notice he holds the disc in the same place close to his body elbow bent for the first 4-6 steps in his throw...Is there any reason or advantage he has by doing this, or is it just his own personal touch to his throwing style??

AHHHHHH  So many videos not enough time in the day to veiw them!!!

Joe:

most of them also appear on the dgr site but a few do not, such as the stuff from the neat holes/shots section.

bubis and donahue have big follow throughs, just don't have big step throughs.
climo didn't used to always step through and you'll see many shots of him in his follow through with his back leg kicked up. the upper body is the key.

as for hammock, he is a technician. he holds the disc very near the start point of his pull. it is less motion to reach back and minimizes necessary rotation. brad can run fast backwards :P
he gets the most out of his body though, 5'2" and can throw 425'+.

Patrick:

for a chicken wing, grip like a grenade and then bring the disc over the top.

They are pretty useless in disc golf. They're awesome in ultimate, though. If you have a lid sitting around somewhere you may want to try it with that instead. It's easier to get the throw to work without having to put too much stress on your elbow. You can keep your elbow bent the whole time and use more of a wrist flick. I had a friend that had a killer sky roller with an Ultrastar using a chicken wing.

right click and do a "save target as"

can then tweak codecs all you need to with relative ease.

Schwebberger's Chicken Wing is just sick!!! I've messed around, trying to throw one after seeing someone do it in the 98 worlds here in Cincinnati. He got nowhere near the distance that Brian does though. I can't believe the smooth release he gets from it.....it almost looks natural. It's nowhere near as easy as he makes it look.
Practice, practice, practice. Especially with players that are better than you. It's one of the only ways to learn new things.

That was a crazy ace, does the camera man say oh man thats not what you wanted (or something along those lines)? must have had a right to left wind to fade that far...

And for the chicken wing, its fun to mess around with but the forehand will always be much easier/consistant/longer/and whatever else a golf shot should be.

cheryl:

do a search for "dvix codec" and "xvid codec" on google. you will likely need to download some things to get them to play.
