If you would like to share your dye methods, send me an e-mail and I will post it here. Posted: 2-20-06 Submitted by Ash Ley My boyfriend uses your method to dye disks, and we've got a great method for "stenciling" a design. I make signs for a living, and when we want to put a graphic on a disk we cut it out of vinyl (you can buy a piece whatever size you need from a local sign shop... tell them you need "high performance", or "cast", vinyl). To do this you simply draw the design on the piece of vinyl, then carefully cut it out. Remember to cut out only the areas you want dyed as the dye will only touch the disk in the exposed areas. Make sure the entire disk is covered by vinyl to avoid "bleeds". If you're having trouble hand-cutting the vinyl you may be better off bringing your sketch to the sign shop and having them cut it for you. Though this can get a little pricey... a good idea for quantity designs, not so good for just one disk. Back to the Main Page. |
